About Me

I’m an author, economist, adventurer and tv presenter. My first book Around the World in 80 Trades has been printed in 13 languages and the accompanying TV series was broadcast in over 40 countries around the world. My new book, Unfair Trade will be published by Random House in May 2011.

I’m passionate about explaining the economic world in which we live through first hand experience. It’s easy to think that economics is something played out only in the boardrooms and trading floors of the world’s largest corporations but in fact, the real global economy is found out in the fields, inside factories, on ships or down mines.

As well as working in the City of London for several years, I’ve travelled to over 100 countries around the globe engaging with people from every walk of life. I think that gives me a pretty unique insight into how global supply chains work and how those at the bottom as well as the top are affected by them.

I’m alway interested in working with people who are passionate about making a difference and are interested in looking for innovative and creative ways of doing it.
